Sabbath Day Bible TRUTH

The Sabbath day is something that Satan hates. Why? Because all true love relationships are built on time, and if he can destroy the day that God set apart for His people to spend quality time with their Creator, then satan can destroy the relationship. God told His people to "REMEMBER" a certain day. Satan tells us to forget about it!

Please see this document by Thomas Tillam THE SEVENTH DAY SABBATH SOUGHT OUT AND CELEBRATED from the year 1657, showing that the seventh day sabbath was being kept by God's people BEFORE the Seventh Day Adventist Church was formed, and linking the sabbath issue with the mark of the beast.

Just pause for a moment and remember who it is we profess to be serving. We are serving God, the Almighty Creator of the universe and Jesus Christ His Son, through whom and by whom the heavens and the earth were created ... Isaiah 45:18 ....'For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.' ... John 1:10 ...'He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.' ... If God commands us to do something, and the Bible shows that command to be unchanged, then we should do it without question, or trying to find an excuse to get out of it. Just because the masses are doing one thing, it doesn't mean it's right, because the true disciples of Christ have always been a minority. So you have a choice, follow God or man?

12 Irrefutable Bible Sabbath Day Facts

All of creation obeys our Heavenly Father. He says to the mountains "RISE" and they do it. He says to the seas "GATHER TOGETHER IN THIS PLACE AND GO NO FURTHER" and they do it. He says to the stars "MAKE THIS FORMATION" and they obey. He says to man "KEEP THE SEVENTH DAY SABBATH HOLY" and we say, "no, we'll keep the day we choose!" Does that not bother anyone?

What Day is the Sabbath?

Genesis 2:2-3 ...' And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested Sabbath Day of Creationon the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.'

God confirms three times what day the sabbath is, in one verse! 777. For God to say it once would be enough, but for Him to say it three times in one verse, shows the importance of the day, not just any day, but the seventh day (our Saturday). So on the 7th day of the week, God rested from His work of creation. The Bible Sabbath Day means 'rest' and that is what God did. Not only did He rest, but He 'sanctified' and blessed the 7th day. He set apart the seventh day from the other six for special Holy use. Did God need to rest? Of course not, but He set an example for us to follow. This is the end of creation week and the only thing God did on the 7th day was to create a day. Really think about that. A special time was created by God and He didn't make the day for Himself, He made it for us, as we can see from the following verse in Mark:

Mark 2:27 ...'The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.' ....God made it for us. New reports have come out lately showing that physically, we need one day of rest per week to stay healthy! God already knew this, but He didn't give us the Sabbath just for rest, but also as a day we could spend in special communion with Him, away from the cares and worries of everyday life. We are to worship God in spirit and in truth and keeping the Bible Sabbath is part of worshiping God according to the truth of His Word in the Bible. Now some Christians will use the above verse in Mark and say that as the Bible Sabbath was made for man and not the other way round, then it's not that important and we can choose to keep it or not. Friend, this is a gift from God. Are you going to say to God that you're not interested in His special gift to you? Are you going to stand before Him and tell Him thanks, but you would rather keep a day given to you by man instead?

Exodus 5:5 ...'And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye make them REST from their burdens.'

And what does that word "rest" mean in the above verse? The orginal Hebrew word is "Shabath", which is Sabbath in our language and it means to keep a day of rest. And this coincides with God testing the Jews with regards to keeping the seventh day sabbath in Exodus 16. There is no doubt that the seventh day sabbath was in effect right from creation and BEFORE the ten commandments were confirmed at Sinai.

Now many Christians also say that the seventh day of creation was left open for there to be an eternal sabbath rest everyday for those who follow the Lord. But take a look again at what Jesus said above in Mark. "The sabbath was MADE for man." Jesus is here talking about the seventh day weekly sabbath right? And when was the sabbath MADE? At creation!! So Jesus here is pointing to the creation week and saying that the seventh DAY sabbath, the weekly sabbath was made for man AT CREATION. So Jesus confirms Himself that the seventh day was NOT left open, but it was a DAY created for man to rest with God.

Also, how could the sabbath day be "sanctified", which means to "set apart", if it was left open at creation? There's nothing to set it apart from if it was left open. Do you see this Bible truth? The seventh day sabbath was a DAY created at the end of creation week for man to take a day of rest from his labour and spend it in special communion with God.

Some people contend that we don't know what day is the Sabbath because the Bible doesn't say "seventh day OF THE WEEK", meaning it isn't actually the seventh day of the week as we regard it, and that Sunday (first day) could be regarded as the seventh day also. This is nothing but grasping at straws! I've never heard such twisting of God's Word. Let's face the basic truth about the days of the week:

What was the first day of creation? It was the first day of the first WEEK.

What was the second day of creation? It was the second day of the first WEEK.

You get the picture right? So what was the seventh day of creation? It was the seventh day of the first WEEK.

What would the seventh day of the second week be? The seventh day of the second WEEK.

So basic logic tells us the seventh day is? SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK!

The seventh day is the ONLY one that God has ever blessed and sanctified (set apart). There isn't a single verse in the entire Bible where God blesses or sanctifies the first day of the week, only the seventh day has that honor. This is a very important fact. If God sanctified the 7th day at creation, BEFORE sin entered the world and set it apart for holy use, then it is still set apart for holy use today. Friend, the seventh day is the day our Creator blessed. It is the only day that has a special name 'Sabbath'. The other days have no special name, just first, second and so on.

We know from the creation account that Adam and Eve were created on the 6th day. So what was the first full day that they spent together? The Seventh day Sabbath! So their first full day together was spent with God in the garden, resting and giving glory to Him for His wonderful creation.

The Bible Sabbath day is a sign of God's creative power. It is a day we can look back to that creation week and stand in awe of our amazing Creator and Savior. A day where we can put off the cares and busyness of the week and rest in Him and delighting in what He has done.

Was the Bible Sabbath day being observed before Sinai? ... Exodus 16:23 ...' And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.' ... Yes it was. We can see from this verse that the Sabbath Day did not start with the Bible Ten Commandments, it was already in effect from creation, which is why God starts the 4th Commandment with 'Remember'.

'Whatsoever God doeth, it shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, nor taken from it' (Ecclesiastes 3:14)

Was the Sabbath the Sabbath of the Jews?

How many Jews were there at creation, when the Sabbath Day was instituted by God? None! There is no foundation on which to base the claim of 'The Sabbath was for the Jews only'. There is not a single word of Scripture that names the Bible Sabbath Day as the 'Jewish Sabbath.' What does God say about this day in the Bible? ... Isaiah 58:13 ...' If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on MY holy day.' ... So God Himself declares that it is not the Jewish Sabbath, but it's HIS Holy Day. Jesus said Himself that He was the Lord of the Sabbath, it's His day. We need to remember that the Jewish nation was chosen by God to take His Word to the rest of the world, and anyone (non Jews) who were to join them, had to keep the Bible Sabbath Day also as the following verses from Isaiah say:

Isaiah 56:1-7 ...' Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed. Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil. Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree. For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant; Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer.'

A stranger is a non Jew. Did you catch what it said above? 'Even unto them (non-jews) will I give in Mine house and within My walls a place and a name better than of sons and daughters.' This is a beautiful promise to ANYONE who join themselves to the LORD and keep His Commandments, including the seventh day Bible Sabbath.

What does God say the seventh day Sabbath is? "My Holy Day"

The Sabbath and the Seal

Exodus 20:8-11 ...'Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.' ... Most Christians will defend the Ten Commandments, saying that we should abide by them and have them displayed in certain places to remind people of God's Holy Law. But when it comes to the 4th Commandment, for some reason many Christians will say that either the 4th has been abolished, quoting Colossians 2:16, or that the specific day has been changed. The one thing they keep forgetting is that "God never changes" (Malachi 3:6). Recently, a Sunday keeping church near me was doing a Ten Commandment series, and I was able to attend most of them. The pastors preached with confidence regarding 9 of the Commandments, but when it came to the 4th, they really struggled. This is because they were basing their belief on tradition, rather than the true Word of God in the bible.

Exo 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Exo 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
Exo 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
Exo 20:6 And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
Exo 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Exo 20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Exo 20:13 Thou shalt not kill.
Exo 20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Exo 20:15 Thou shalt not steal.
Exo 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Exo 20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

Do you see that it is only the Sabbath commandment that tells us who it is we worship? If we take out the sabbath commandment, then we would not know what God to worship from the other commands. But through the sabbath commandment, we know that it is the Creator of heaven and earth. God has placed His signature or seal within the sabbath commandment, so that we know who He is and that we worship the right God. Is the sabbath day important? Yes, there is no doubt.

The 4th Commandment is the only one that says 'Remember', as God knew it would be forgotten. It is also the longest of the Ten Commandments and is the connecting Commandment between the first three to do with God and the last six to do with man. It "connects" us with the true God.

Isaiah 58:13-14 ...'If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.' ... There is a great blessing in keeping God's Holy Sabbath Day, not just as per the 4th Commandment, but as the above verses says, to call the Sabbath a 'delight', 'honourable', to turn away from doing your own pleasures and to give the day fully to God. But we do not keep the sabbath just according to the letter of the law, but according to the Spirit, see the spirit and the letter. In other words, if someone was in need on the sabbath and you needed to "work" to help them, then that would be ok, because love would supercede the letter of the law, as Jesus confirmed ... Mark 3:4 ...'Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil?'

The Bible Sabbath Day was created and instituted BEFORE sin.

Sabbath Day of CreationPlease don't miss this very important fact. Jesus confirmed that the sabbath was made for man. When was the sabbath made? At the end of creation week. So this means that it was instituted BEFORE sin entered the world. So if it was instituted before sin, then it was God's ORIGINAL plan for man to spend one day a week resting and delighting himself in God and His creation. And from this following verse, we can see it will carry on AFTER sin has gone ... Isaiah 66:22-23 ...'For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.'

As we can see above in this end times prophecy Bible verse, the Sabbath Day will still be observed after the second coming of Christ Jesus, when we are living on the new earth. Jesus also confirms that the Sabbath Day would still be in effect after His death and resurrection. See the following verse:

Matthew 24:20 ...'But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day.' ... Jesus here is telling those present of the future destruction of Jerusalem by the Roman army, and that they should pray their escape should not fall on the Bible Sabbath Day, the seventh day.

Did you know this AMAZING fact? In over 100 languages the name for the day that we call Saturday means "the Sabbath." For example, Saturday in the Spanish language is "Sabado", which means "the Sabbath." In Italian, it is "Sabbato," which also means "the Sabbath." In Russian it is, "Subbota." In Polish, "Sobota," and so on. Coincidence? I don't think so. This actually ties in with what happened at the tower of Babel when God confused the language of men. And it shows that the sabbath was being kept then and continued into the different languages after Babel. The only day that has been and will ever be called the Sabbath day is the 7th day.

Genesis 11:9 ...'Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.' ... You see, even though God confounded their language and scattered the people over the earth, the Bible Sabbath remained the Sabbath Day in all the different languages. Thus proving that the Sabbath Day was in effect early in Genesis, WAY BEFORE the ten commandments were given.

Some say that we don't know which is the true 7th day, because the calendar has been changed. Well, the calendar did change in order to keep up with the solar cycle once in October 1582, but it did not alter the weekly cycle. Ten dates were omitted from the calendar following October 4, 1582. What would have been Friday, October 5, became Friday, October 15. This did not affect the days of the week, just the date.

If you contact a Naval Observatory, they will tell you from the alignment of the stars that the weekly cycle has not changed since the time of Jesus. The seventh day sabbath back then is the same as the seventh day sabbath today (our Saturday). And don't forget, the Jewish nation have been keeping the Bible Sabbath since Old Testament times and they have meticulously been keeping the correct day right up to our day.

The US Naval Observatory will tell you that our 7th Day is the same one as back in Bible times.

What connection does Jesus have with the Sabbath?

John 1:1-3,14 ...'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.'

The Word is Jesus, He is the one who became flesh and dwelt among man. What else do we see from this verse? We see that Jesus is the Creator! As it says ... 'all things were made by Him.' This means that the Bible Sabbath was also created by Him, which is why He is 'Lord of the Sabbath.' So if Jesus created the Sabbath day and did not change it HIMSELF in the New Testament, then we can confidently conclude that it remains the same today. Jesus revealed to us that He was the great 'I AM' in the Old Testament ... John 8:58 ...'Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.' ... Jesus created the 7th Day Sabbath. He kept the 7th Day Sabbath and He never changed the 7th Day Bible Sabbath.

What a wonderful privilege it is to set aside the 7th day every week and rest from our labors, and from the worries of this world and spend it with Jesus, our Creator and Savior. We are not saved by keeping the 7th Day Sabbath, we are only saved by the grace of Jesus, which is a free gift. But, a true loving relationship with Jesus will produce a loving desire to keep His Commands, including His Holy 7th Day Sabbath. Satan wants nothing more than for you to worship him instead of God, and through the antichrist system he has changed the Bible Sabbath truth into error, and most of the Christian world has believed the lie. In the book of John we are told that God is seeking those who worship Him in 'spirit and truth'. We should worship Him with all our heart and in all truth, the truth being according to His Word and His commands. Therefore He is seeking those that worship Him on the true Sabbath day that He instituted, not another day that is just a tradition of man.
